TenZ shares his opinion on Valorant vs. Counter Strike

The Canadian 23-year-old, Tysen “TenZ” Ngo is considered to be the most popular Valorant player. In October 2019, at the age of 18, he began his esports career when he played Counter Strike: Global Offensive for Cloud9. Surprisingly in April 2020 after the public beta release of Riot Games’ Valorant, Ngo decided to switch to Valorant. Having won multiple championships in Valorant, the most recent one being VCT Masters Madrid, TenZ has bolstered himself as one of the best professional players for Valorant.

Valorant vs Counter-Strike has been the topic of debate for many fans and players alike. Since Ngo has left a career behind in CS and is a professional player for Sentinels playing Valorant currently, he did not shy away from weighing in his opinion on the topic of debate.

Recently on stream, TenZ was asked “What do you prefer CS2 or Valorant?” by a fan. He was quick to reply, “CS2 is more fun.” This certainly isn’t something a Valorant fan would’ve liked to hear. Ngo went on to explain that he likes “the mechanical aspect in CS” and further added, “it felt like every single day you could get better at something mechanically.”

Utilities Vs Abilities

TenZ also said that he likes the “creativity” one can show while using utilities like smokes, flashbangs, and grenades in CS. He quickly added that he thinks one can “unleash more of that creativity in Valorant” with certain agents and their abilities.

The Valorant vs. CS debate isn’t going away anytime soon, and TenZ’s recent remarks have only added fuel to the fire. Despite being considered the face of Valorant and one of the best players in the industry. TenZ’s statement suggests that he likes CS “fundamentally” better than Valorant. Having said this, it does not look like TenZ will be going back to Counter-Strike anytime soon.
