Riot Games is transforming the League of Legends experience in Season 15, introducing sweeping changes to the Battle Pass, rewards, and mission structures. These updates promise a more streamlined and rewarding journey for players, addressing long-standing criticisms of complexity and limited engagement.
Themed Seasons Bring Immersive Content
For the first time, Riot will implement three themed seasons in 2025, each split into two acts. These seasons will center around unique narratives, featuring tailored game modes, skins, champions, and events. Players can expect themes celebrating iconic moments like the Lunar New Year and April Fools’ Day, fully integrated into the game interface and Victory screens.
This approach not only enhances immersion but also lays the groundwork for reimagined Battle Pass challenges and rewards.
A New, Extended Battle Pass Structure
The Season 15 Battle Pass will last for four patches instead of the usual two, giving players more time to unlock rewards. Riot has introduced two tiers: a free pass and a paid version, both aligned with the seasonal themes. Free players can earn cosmetics, skins, and other content, while the paid pass offers additional rewards, including exclusive Prestige Skins, banners, and Ancient Sparks.
Daily, Weekly, Act, and Event-based missions now contribute to Battle Pass progression. A flexible tracker simplifies monitoring progress, and Riot’s new system allows players to complete the pass without finishing every objective.
Revamped Rewards and Simplified Currencies
One of the most exciting changes involves the removal of the Event Shop and Tokens, replaced by on-the-go rewards within the pass. Free players can now earn up to 15 skins annually—an increase from the previous standard of nine.
Paid pass options, starting at 1,650 RP, offer tiers with exclusive content:
- 1,650 RP: Base paid pass
- 2,650 RP: Includes 10 bonus levels and a Prestige Skin
- 3,650 RP: Adds Prestige Chroma, 25 Mythic Essence, and additional bonuses
The new Prestige Skins will replace the traditional Prestige and non-Prestige skin options, allowing for higher-quality designs.
Other Key Updates for League of Legends Rewards
- Honor System Tweaks: High Honor players will gain additional experience and in-game perks, while low Honor players face restrictions. The Honor system will now persist across seasons.
- Masterwork Chests Removal: These chests will be phased out, with Hextech Chests remaining as the primary source for skin shards.
- Champion Mastery Integration: Missions tied to Champion Mastery will become part of the Battle Pass, adding a strategic layer for dedicated mains.
Lastly, Riot is simplifying the capsule system by consolidating Event, Showcase, and Mythic Variant Capsules into a single type.
