For anyone looking to enjoy some great Co-op games with friends fret not as we are here to help you in choosing some great Co-op games. It doesn’t matter if you are visiting a friend’s house or just joining each other in an online lobby, the games below will offer the best Co-op experience to you and your friends.
1. It Takes Two (Available on- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC)
A brand new entry into the list. It Takes Two works on the similar formula of the previous title “A Way Out” from the same Developer, Hazelight Studios.
The story follows a struggling couple as they deal with their shortcomings, which might result in a divorce. The couple – Cody and May, are turned into miniature knitted dolls after the couple’s daughter cries on dolls turning them into dolls by a magic spell. From there, it’s up to you and a teammate to navigate through a fantastical world where the unpredictable hides around every corner, clear challenges to make your way back to the house, and in the process hopefully, save their fractured relationship.
Improving upon the same split-screen co-op formula from previous titles, It Takes Two truly stands out from others in the same genre. It Takes Two is a perfect Co-op experience for two and offers a very powerful story and gameplay experience.
2. Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise (Available on- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Monster Hunter Rise only on Nintendo Switch)
Another great Co-op experience set on a large open-world map. Group up with other hunters or friends through local co-op or online co-op and set foot in the wild map of Monster Hunter. Combine attacks and abilities to deal as much damage as possible and take down challenging monsters spread across the map to earn rewards and materials.
Now also available on Nintendo Switch in form of Monster Hunter Rise, the franchise is now available on every modern platform.
3. Phasmophobia (Available on- PC)
The first and the only game that we recommend playing in VR mode with friends. Phasmophobia is another indie game that gained the much-needed spotlight due to the pandemic. Although Phasmophobia is a Horror game with ghost hunting as its main focus, while playing in VR it becomes more of a horror-comedy.
Team up with 3 other ghost hunters and use your ghost hunting techs such as cameras, UV flashlights, thermometers, and more to find and track a ghost. Your objective is to gather evidence to pin down what type of ghost is haunting the place while remaining alert about ghost behaviors and hunts.
4. Among Us (Available on- Android, iOS, PC, Switch, and soon on- Xbox platform)
Definitely, the hidden gem of an Indie game that exploded in popularity during pandemic induced lockdowns and quickly peaked on every chart. From an avg of 500-700 players in 2018, the game peaked with nearly 500,000 players in 2020.
The game puts you on a ship with 9 other players with at least one or two imposters out on a task to kill every crewmate and win the game. As a crewmate, you have to complete different tasks around the ship as fast as possible before imposters slaughter the majority of the crew. Imposter can sabotage the ship’s reactors and lights to slow crew movement, while the crew can report a body or press the call button to have an emergency meeting to vote out possible imposters.
Among Us is free on Android and iOS, and costs only $5 on PC and Switch. The game supports crossplay between these platforms and allows you to team up and play with your friends on any platform.
5. Destiny 2 (Available on- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC)
Another open-world game to enjoy with friends. While Destiny 2 is a Free-2-Play game, only the base game with previously released DLCs before Forsaken DLC is available for players to enjoy for free. Destiny 2 is one of the most unique games in the Looter Shooter genre. The game is an Open World action MMO with a single evolving world. The game offers different game modes like PVP, PVPVE, and PVE each of which can be played with friends in a lobby.
Also, Destiny 2 offers cross-platform support with features such as cross-play and cross-save available for free. Destiny 2 offers one of the most polished online AAA experiences available with a little bit of everything: An epic story, intense gameplay moments, and an endless hunt for better and cooler-looking armor or gun. It is a fun and chill co-op experience for you and your friends to wind down after a long day.
6. Grand Theft Auto Online (Available on- PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox Series X, PS5)
One of the oldest games on the list which to this day is extremely popular. Even seven years after its launch, the game’s concurrent player population is at an all-time high.
With Rockstar’s constant support of new content and gameplay improvements, the game still feels and rocks shockingly good. GTA Online takes the GTA V and puts it online in an open-world sandbox. Join up with your friends and complete missions throughout the large state of San Andreas.
