The Shanghai-Jingan government has recently unveiled the Esports Shanghai Masters, which will be held at Shanghai Jingan Sports Center from November 28th to December 1st and is set to feature a total prize pool of $700K USD. The tournament is expected to invite players from China, Japan, Korea, North America, and Europe.
Bilibili Esports which is an esports division of video platform Bilibili, communications company Shanghai Unicom and service network KPMG will be serving as the official partners of the tournament.
The tournament will be featuring a wide array of esports title including Overwatch, League of Legends, Warcraft III Reforged and Dungeon Fighter Online (DNF).
The invitations are as follows:
- For DNF competition on November 28th, the tournament will invite teams from China, the United States, Japan, and Korea.
- For the Overwatch competition on November 29th, four teams from the Overwatch League will be invited. The tournament has already unveiled two of the four teams which are: Shanghai Dragon and Hangzhou Spark.
- For the Warcraft III Reforged competition on November 30th, 16 professional players from China, the United States, Europe and Korea are set to be invited.
- For the League of Legends competition on December 1st, the tournament will invite the retired players from the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) respectively.
In addition to these, the Shanghai-Jingan government and Shanghai General Administration of Sports will be hosting an esports business conference, esports fans party, and an esports video art show alongside the event. The esports business conference will be focusing on two topics: “Three values in esports” and “Four related industry areas”, according to the announcement.
