XSET Qualifies for Their First International Valorant Event

In the Lower Bracket Finals for Valorant Champions Tour NA Challengers, XSET beat Faze Clan in a Best-of-five match to qualify for their first international event. XSET, with this victory, are now in the grand finals of VCT NA Challengers and would be the second NA representative at VCT Masters Copenhagen.

XSET, led by their IGL Dephh, has been a constant force in the NA Valorant Scene and has been a solid top-five NA team. With Cloud9 failing to make it to the group stage, XSET managed to maintain their performance to improve and gradually make their mark.

XSET finished their group as the first seed with a 4-1 record coming into the playoffs. They started strong in the playoffs when they defeated 100 Thieves 2-0 with scores 13-10 and 13-4. In the upper finals, they faced the no. 1 team in the world, Optic Gaming, and despite taking Optic’s map pick, they couldn’t close out the game and lost 1-3 to Optic.

After the loss, They faced Faze in the Lower bracket finals, who themselves have had a terrific tournament run where despite the loss in the opening match, they beat Luminosity, 100 Thieves and NRG to make it to the Lower Bracket Finals.

The BO5 started with XSET’s split. XSET started strong, winning the first half of the map 7-5. Faze’s defence stayed unshaken, and they managed to run away with XSET’s pick 13-11.

Faze’s Breeze seemed very balanced, where both teams won six rounds apiece in the first half. But XSET completely dominated Faze’s defence in the second half to win the map 13-10.

With the score tied at 1-1, On Icebox, XSET started pretty strong, where they won the first half with ease with a scoreline of 9-3 but Faze Clan managed to return the favour winning the second half 9-3, thus tying the map in regulation. In Overtime, both teams exchanged two rounds, but eventually, XSET edged out Faze clan to win the map 16-14.

The fourth map started with an XSET map-up and crushed Faze’s attack in the first half, winning the half 9-3. Faze could not repeat the feat on their defence and fell to XSET 4-13 losing the game 1-3.

XSET, with this victory, will finally make their international debut at VCT Masters Copenhagen. Along with Optic Gaming, the chances of NA at VCT Masters seem high.

Today, XSET would face Optic Gaming in the grand finals of VCT NA Challengers. The winner of the match would receive $50K and an advantage at Masters Copenhagen.
