A recent leak suggests Wriothesley will receive his first rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, ending a wait of over a year since his debut in Version 4.1. The leak, shared by Flying Flame, claims Wriothesley will appear on Event Banners when Version 5.4 launches on February 12, 2025.
The Challenge of Rerun Scheduling
With over 90 playable characters, Genshin Impact struggles to allocate rerun slots fairly. Assuming an average of one new 5-Star per patch, 43 limited 5-Star characters currently qualify for annual reruns. However, only 27 slots are available yearly on Event Banners, making equal rotation impossible.
The Chronicled Banner, introduced to address this issue, has been criticized as a temporary fix. For instance, Shenhe waited over 600 days before her rerun in Version 5.3. Unless Triple Banners are implemented, rerun delays will persist.
Wriothesley’s Banner History
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst specializing in Burnmelt teams, debuted in November 2023 with a strong performance as a Cryo hypercarry. However, he has not been featured on Event Banners since his release, limiting players’ chances to obtain him.
Flying Flame’s credibility as a source is mixed. While they accurately predicted the Chronicled Banner for Version 5.3, other claims have been unreliable. Players are advised to interpret the leak cautiously.
Other Updates in Version 5.4
Version 5.4 is also expected to introduce Mizuki, Inazuma’s first Standard Banner character. Additionally, the Event Banners may include Furina or Venti, as these Archons are due for reruns. Archons typically return in sequential updates.
