A huge title just launched recently from Game Science – Black Myth: Wukong, which has its own set of unique abilities, spells, skills, and transformations. The game has its own unique spirit skill, as a way to let the users channel abilities that are derived from different spirits. Mind you, the game also has a very rare “complete transformation” where the monkey king can transform into another character altogether – albeit for a short amount of time. Spirits are artifacts in the game that are captured when you defeat elite Yaoguais which can be later used to craft spirit skills.
If you are still curious about which spirit skills are present in the game, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Here is a comprehensive guide on how you can unlock, use, and upgrade your spirit skills in Black Myth Wukong.
How to unlock spirit skills in Black Myth: Wukong
Spirit skills can be unlocked as early as Chapter 1 when you initially meet the Elder Sage for the first time. This is done by reaching the Snake Tail Shrine in Bamboo Grove, where you reach a spot after a certain flight of stairs. As soon as you reach the top of the stairs, you will find the Elder Sage who will immediately grant you the ability to absorb the spirits.
This is triggered by simply talking to him, where a cut-scene with animations begins and lets you get the Blessed Gourd.
But, how to absorb spirits in Black Myth: Wukong?
Easy, after you unlock the Blessed Gourd, all you have to do is collect spirits. Sounds weird, yeah right. But, on a serious note, the players come across several mini-bosses in the game, which are glowing elite enemies. Defeating each of these enemies drops their spirits ashes which when collected lets you collect their spirits. One of the earliest spirit bosses in the game is the Wandering Wight, which appears right at the beginning of the game.
Even though he drops his spirit once you defeat him, you cannot collect it because you still won’t have the ability to do so. We believe it is a part of their “onboarding journey” where the developers want you to get accustomed to the game mechanics right from the beginning.
Also, remember that any and every defeated spirit can be collected in retrospect from the Keeper’s shrines.
How to swap & use spirit skills in Black Myth: Wukong
After unlocking the spirit skills, you should be able to use the “F” key to use your Qi to press the spirit skill key to use the ability. When spirit skills are used, they deplete your stored Qi for the skill.
In order to swap the spirit skills, open the inventory and head to the Equipments section, where you should be able to see a new spirit slot. This slot is open for you to use and swap as per choice. You should also be able to check your spirit ability and its Qi cost to make sure that your loadout makes sense.
How to Upgrade Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong
Interestingly, spirits can also be upgraded in the game, where they keep consecutively increasing in strength and abilities. Upgrading spirits is also very simple, where all you need to do is navigate to your closest Keeper’s shrine and trigger the Self-advance option where you can cultivate the spirits, eventually leading to the Spirits tab.
You should be now able to select the spirit you want and cultivate it to upgrade its levels. But do remember that this requires wills along with other items that are necessary for these upgrades to be available, so make sure to farm them beforehand.
This was how you could unlock, swap, absorb, use, and finally upgrade your spirit skills in Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong
