The game receives occasional updates when it is to launch a new-line of content, with the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack ready and to be deployed into the game. This will be followed by Witch Queen, a major expansion of the game, scheduled for launch in early February 2022.
Ahead of the 3.4.0 update along with the release of the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack, Destiny 2’s servers today will be taken down for maintenance. The servers will go offline by 8:45 AM PST/ 4:45 PM GMT as any online player engaged in an activity will be removed from the game and won’t be able to log back in until 9 AM PST.
Around 9 AM, the update will start rolling onto different platforms and regions but players still logging into the game may be placed in a queue and may experience sign-on issues as background maintenance would still be underway. The whole maintenance drive is expected to conclude by 10 AM PST.
