Ubisoft is launching XDefiant, a novel free-to-play first-person shooter game set to compete with giants like Call of Duty, Valorant, and Destiny 21. Being a multiplayer-centric game revolving around 6v6 matches, cross-platform compatibility, and cross-progression are central to XDefiant’s success.
Does Xdefiant Have Crossplay?
XDefiant is being designed to support cross-platform multiplayer on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS51. The open beta version of the game confirms this cross-platform functionality, allowing players on different platforms to compete against one another. However, it’s important to note that players on PS4 and Xbox One will not have access to the open beta, though Ubisoft reassures that the full game will support these consoles.
Players of the closed beta get unique access to all factions without the need to play the Ubisoft Connect DedSec challenge to unlock DedSec. To play with this faction in the open session, gamers will have to earn 125,000 XP and claim it via their Ubisoft Connect account.
Ubisoft has stated that XDefiant will offer cross-progression across PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. This means players can maintain their game progression across different platforms, a significant feature for those who switch between consoles and PC. To enable this, players will need to link their Ubisoft account to their PlayStation Network or Xbox account.
It’s crucial to note, however, that any progression made in the XDefiant Open Beta will not be carried over to the full game experience. Still, players who unlock skins from the XDefiant Twitch Drops will retain these skins for use once the full game releases.
