Following the introduction of a new European law, Fortnite and the Epic Games Store have finally returned to iOS in the EU and in this article, we will discuss how you can download it on your iPhones.
Apple is notoriously famous for taking a major cut for all purchases made from the App Store which EPIC found a way to bypass by redirecting its users to their own website to make purchases for Fortnite instead of making the same purchase through the App Store. Apple saw this as a violation of their policy that banned the game from their digital store for iPhones and iPads.
Following the ban, EPIC games took the tech giant to court, a legal battle that lasted for years before the introduction of the Digital Market Act (DMA) by the EU that led to iPhone users in the majority of EU countries as well as Android device owners globally to finally access Epic Games and Fortnite.
How to download Fortnite on iPhone(iOS 17.6 or above)
Go to www.fortnite.com/download to get the iPhone Epic Games Store app.
Grant Epic Marketplace access to your device and follow the on-screen instructions.
After installation, search for Fortnite in the Epic Game Store Library and select the download option.
Sadly, the new law only affects Fortnite in Europe which means other regions cannot access the game on their iPhones at the time of writing. Games will be inaccessible until Apple concedes to EPIC or EPIC makes a compromise. Still, either way, the EU passing the new law is a massive step towards the policies of Apple which are generally considered as anti-consumer.
