Ever since the release of Riot’s competitive shooter, it has been riddled with a variety of bugs. You might remember the days of Omen killing everyone in the game without taking a hint of damage, but the kind of bugs that annoy players more are the ones that don’t even let you launch Valorant. The ‘connection error’ bug in Valorant has been prevalent for a while in Riot’s new title. The error, much like the ‘error code 0’, prevents you from launching the game or joining a match.

In case you’re having similar problems with the game, you’ll be pleased to know that the solution to this issue is quite simple. Here are some of the steps you can try to fix the problem:
Restarting Router/Modem
In case you haven’t already, this is something you must try before moving on to the next step. If the root of the problem lies in your internet connection, restarting your modem or router might just be enough to fix your ‘connection error’, but on the off chance it doesn’t, read on.
Relaunching Vanguard
The ‘connection error’ mostly occurs due to a problem caused by Vanguard, Riot’s anti-cheat engine which aims to keep cheaters at bay. Relaunching Vanguard may solve this problem. To do so, first, you’ll need to restart your computer. Vanguard will launch automatically at your next boot. Try launching Valorant again, if the problem persists, proceed to the next step.
Reinstalling Vanguard
If relaunching Vanguard doesn’t fix it, reinstalling it is your next step. A fresh install of the anti-cheat engine has a high chance of fixing your issue once and for all. To uninstall Vanguard, right-click on the Vanguard icon at the bottom-right of your taskbar and click on uninstall. Once done, relaunch Valorant and Vanguard will automatically install itself once again. After a reboot, you should be good to go.
Reinstalling Valorant
This is your last resort if the problem keeps on repeating itself despite your most valiant efforts. Uninstall Valorant from the control panel, make sure Vanguard is uninstalled too, then download your new copy of Valorant from the official website.
