How to Fix High Ping in Valorant?

High latencies are perhaps one of the most annoying problems any FPS gamer can face while playing multiplayer video games. Not only does it hinder your ability to perform well during intense firefights, but it also suppresses your actual skills in any multiplayer title.

Valorant is currently one of the hottest tactical shooters out there, and it’s crucial for players to have latencies as low as possible for consistent gameplay. If you’re finding yourself experiencing high ping issues in Valorant, then you’ve come to the right place.

Today, we’re gonna take a look at what you can do to fix your ping problems in Valorant or to simply reduce in-game lag.

Valorant High Ping Fix

While there’s no certain “fix” for your ping issues, you can try out a variety of stuff to significantly reduce your lag in-game and consequently improve your ping.

  • Firstly, make sure your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is not the root of the issue. If your internet speeds are as slow as molasses in January, there’s really not much you can do to improve your in-game latency in pretty much any video game out there. If that’s the case, try upgrading your internet plan to one that gives more speed. You can also consider switching ISPs if needed.
  • Another obvious solution would be to simply restart your router, which can often solve your latency problems to great extents.
  • Restricting background applications are also non-optional for your ideal video gaming experience. Any application that’s running in your background while gaming can hinder your in-game latencies. At the start of any game, open your task manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC), and close any unneeded processes that may be using up internet speed.
  • Next, you should reduce the number of connections on your router. For instance, if you have three phones in your house connected to the router, your internet speed may be taking a serious hit while gaming.

Once you’ve completed the above-mentioned steps, you should notice a significant decrease in your in-game pings. If you have any other solutions we may have missed, be sure to leave it in the comments below.
