How to Get Kicks in Fortnite?

Step Up Your Style with Fortnite's Latest Cosmetic Feature

This new feature lets players customize their look with unique designs created by Epic Games or well-known brands like Nike’s Air Jordan 1s. However, it’s worth mentioning that not every Fortnite outfit will be compatible with Kicks right away.

Kicks might be a bit confusing since they are the newest cosmetic addition to Fortnite and their release was delayed, but they officially launched with the Nov. 21st v32.11 update. Here’s what you need to know about getting Kicks, when new styles will hit the shop, and how to equip them.

What are Kicks in Fortnite?

Kicks are a cosmetic category that represents your character’s footwear in Fortnite, allowing you to change your character’s shoes or even hide their bare feet.

Epic Games has announced that over 500 of the most popular Fortnite outfits will support Kicks at launch, and by Spring 2025, it’s expected that more than 95% of outfits will be compatible.

Thanks to HypeX on YouTube, you can check out how Kicks will look when worn.

How to get Kicks in Fortnite?

You can get Kicks in Fortnite through two main ways — the Battle Pass and the Item Shop. Kicks will function like other Fortnite cosmetic items, meaning you’ll need to reach a certain Battle Pass tier, complete Battle Pass challenges, or buy them from the Item Shop using V-Bucks.

Like other Fortnite cosmetics, you can get a pair of Kicks through upcoming Fortnite events and tasks, or even by subscribing to Fortnite’s Crew Membership.

The first pair of Kicks introduced to the game is the “Air Jordan 1 High OG Black Toe Reimagined,” which was given to players as part of the Fortnite Remix season on Nov. 14, 2024.

New Kicks will be released in drops, with groups of shoes available for a limited time. Before making a purchase, click the “Kicks Usability” button on the product page in the shop to check which of your skins can be them.

Here are the drop dates for Kicks in Fortnite

How to Get Kicks in Fortnite

But, how do I equip Kicks in Fortnite?

To equip Kicks in Fortnite, go to your Locker in the main menu and select the “Character” tab. Click on the shoe icon to see all of your new Kicks. As mentioned, not every character is currently compatible with Kicks.

Over time, Epic Games will update more skins to support them. For a complete list of outfits that work with Kicks in Fortnite, check Epic Games’ official support page. To see in-game which of your outfits can be usable, go to your roster and click the “Sort Filter” button. Find the “Kicks Usable” filter and apply it to view your skins that are compatible with Kicks.

But, why are Kicks hidden when equipped?

When you equip a Kick, you might see the message “Hidden when equipped with Outfit,” which means the selected outfit isn’t compatible with Kicks right now.

Unfortunately, Kicks aren’t available for every outfit in Fortnite, but Epic Games has provided a list of compatible outfits in an official support document. If your outfit isn’t on the list, it won’t be able to use Kicks.
