Sony’s latest console is finally hitting the Indian markets starting on 12th January. Although the Standard edition has been delayed.
The successor to Sony’s PlayStation 4 will be up for grabs after its initial release back in November last year where it launched in the US, EU, and Japan and went on to become the best-selling console of this generation, beating its predecessor’s launch record at a whopping number of 4.1 million units sold.
The PS5 console comes in two variants, Digital Edition and a 4K Blue-ray Drive Edition priced at INR 39,990 and 49,990 respectively. However, they both boast the same hardware under the hood.
The PS5 is powered by AMD’s RDNA 2 GPU and Zen 2 based CPU as well as an 825GB SSD paired with Sony’s own IO chip for astonishingly fast loading times, it also offers Ray Tracing and up to 120fps, never seen before on consoles.
You can also upgrade its storage thanks to the M.2 slot that’s present in the console. PS5 also offers backward compatibility with most PS4 games, which is a great feature for people who are looking to get into the Sony ecosystem and try out exclusive titles that are available on PS4.
Sony has also completely redesigned its controller, which is now called DualSense rather than DualShock. A fitting name as the controller now features haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that add resistance depending on the game you’re playing.
The console will also launch with a handful of exclusive titles which are as follows:
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Spider-Man: Remastered
- Demon’s Souls
- Astro’s Playroom (Included with the PS5)
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Consumers can pre-order their units from Amazon, Croma, Reliance Digital, Flipkart, Vijay Sales, and Sony Center on 12th January at 12 pm. (Until stocks last.) However, they are only limited to the standard edition as the Digital edition has been delayed indefinitely along with PS5’s other accessories.
