10 Word Games Like Wordle in 2024

Expand Your Wordplay Horizons: Explore New Wordle-Inspired Games

Games are often judged based on their replayability. Although the market is filled with story mode and online massive multiplayer titles, people go back to certain titles when traveling or relaxing. Ever wondered why?

One such title that everyone must have played at least once in their lifetimes is ironically one of the hardest games to master. With randomized, letter guessing work involved, predicting which word could land on your next challenge is next to impossible.

Although as we mentioned before, there is a chink in the armor with Wordle where the vanilla version doesn’t have a multiplayer game mode. This often leads to users trying to find alternatives to Wordle, this is why we have sifted through a lot of Wordle alternatives and have some suggestions for you.

Worldle

Worldle

Sneaky name, we know. The game is true to its name. The game’s theme surrounds you trying to guess different locations in the world. Following the original game theme, each day’s location is randomly fetched, and depending on your strength in geography, you should be able to find the answer very easily or with some difficulty.

You get a maximum of six guesses to name the location with the best aspect of this being that even if you get the answer wrong, Worldle will try and show you how close you were to the answer, with a friendly arrow guiding you toward the right spot.

Nerdle

Nerdle

While Nerdle isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, the game is adored by math geeks. The game places calculations on every tile that lead to some interesting results. There are correct numbers in the green tiles with incorrect ones in the purple tile and answering wrong turns the tile – black altogether. The game has multiple modes like mini, speed, instant, and even custom Nerdle sessions. The game, albeit slightly complex, is a cult classic.

Dordle

Dordle

Yeah, we hear you. Enough with quirky names already, but this game takes the concept up a level. Instead of guessing and solving for one word, the game tasks you with guessing two words simultaneously!

The players get a total of seven tries to get the words right, meaning an added layer of difficulty finding out both the words, but the game follows the standard process for elimination, which is green yellow, and gray tile classifications.

The game does have a daily Dordle mode, with a free mode meaning unlimited tries to play it, but the real challenge is in the normal mode where two words at the same tries get pretty frustrating, and trust us, we know it.

Challenge yourself with Dordle here.

Framed

Framed

A game that veers away from the core concept of wordle, but steers towards another interesting world of challenges where you have to answer by guessing the movie of the day. Players have to guess which movie random stills are from and the game moves on to frame after frame till you get it right.

The game even has six guesses till the last frame, by when it will have been too late. Post this, you are shown the answer and a timer for your next answer. But don’t worry about repetition since their library seems to be massive!

Heardle Unlimited

Heardle Unlimited

Spotify had something interesting on its hands when it introduced Heardle but shut it down pretty soon. Despite this, a lot of clones have popped up on different domains ever since and are still playable. For the ones who have been living under a rock, the game brings an essence of music into the equation where every day there is a snippet from a random song from any genre and/or artist. The answer is revealed gradually through a 30-second snippet where after your first guess, only the first 1 second is revealed and as the guesses progress, the song is distinguishable at that point.

If you are a discohead, the game is surely built for you. Here is a link where you can go test your music prowess right away!

Quordle

Quordle

An unexpected and rather unpleasant surprise is what we would call this game. Ramping things up from Dordle, this game has four random words of the day, which you guessed it right, have to be discovered at once!

The game does have nine chances for you to do this, but we don’t think they’re enough.

If you find this difficult, then don’t worry you are a sane person and there is a good way to practice since there is a mode for just that in the game that lets you warm up before moving to the actual arena. The game is not for everyone but once you get the hang of it, it can always be your dose of a healthy challenge.

Try Quordle here.

SWordle

SWordle

Strictly only for Star Wars fans is what we call this. The game is a Star Wars extravaganza with answers being references from the series. The game has characters, weapons, and anything else you could imagine from the show’s universe.

The concept being the same, the players get six tries to guess the answer and if you are a die-hard Star Wars nerd, then surely give SWordle a try.

Words with Friends 2

Words with Friends 2

This game, like its other market shareholders, aims at building a community gaming approach where “team efforts” can be used to guess the words. The game has a journey where users are supposed to play against an opponent. Each player gets several tiles with random letters and the aim is to create words like a crossword-style game with the twist being that the players very soon run out of tiles to spell words. The game also helps “define” words, with an inbuilt thesaurus and a dictionary, and is a good change of pace for people bored of playing Wordle Solo.

Absurdle

Absurdle

True to the promise the name makes, the game follows none of the traditional rules. Firstly, the most absurd of them all is that the game has no word limit, meaning you can practically make an infinite number of guesses without having to worry about running out of guesses. However, the strength of this game lies in the fact that this is community-driven, meaning the word of the day isn’t predecided but instead is based on the inputs that the players give. This is more than enough to frustrate players and make them give up as soon as possible.

But since the word itself doesn’t change, you can still guess it if you throw a lot of tries.

Scrabble

Scrabble

The most famous of them all, right after Wordle, is the same game as words with friends, but we believe it is still worth a mention. The game is very crossword-like but is easily one of the most discoverable online and offline games that is very similar to Wordle.

Every player starts with a different set of tiles to begin with and the tiles have to be placed turn by turn to form words on the board. The objective is to create as many meaningful words as possible using the tiles. If you want to feel the origins of all the word-based games that you’ve ever played, Scrabble is for you!
