E-league announced with $1.2 million prize-pot for CS:GO event

Turner and WME | IMG’s eSports venture to be named as “E- League” and will offer a $1.2 million prize-pot. Turner Boradcasting System, Inc. teaming up with WME | IMG to televise CS:GO in the US was a mere talk, until it went official.

Turner crews could be seen filming B-rolls and player interviews during CS:GO events throughout November in the US, confirming the players participating in the future league. The company recently released a press statement, confirming the presumed facts: the CS:GO leagues will occur twice a year, each lasting 10 weeks alongwith Friday night games from the studio in Atlanta being televised on TBS public cable channel. Teams will also contribute digital content totalling 30 hours each week, The Renegades from Australia have already been doing so.

Video Here:

A rather interesting video was also included in the announcement which mentions the $1.2 million prize-pot, even though the proper breakdown of prize distribution for the E-League is not confirmed as of yet. The video informs that a total of 15 teams will take part, and some of them can be recognized in the promotional video already. More information about the league will be announced later this year, following the debut in the summer.

World’s second best CSGO roster TSM, disbands

More tragic news, lately this one coming from a very expected organization. Team SoLoMid, the current world’s second best CS:GO team disbanded, leaving the players teamless and their world open to new opportunities.

TSM have stated that they will be letting the team’s contracts expire and will allow them to answer to newer opportunities. The TSM group presented it as “the large time zone difference and distance separating [them]…” as a problem, as it caused “large issues with accessibility.”

It was the best for both parties to part.

Untill the players find their next destination organization, they’d continue to play with the tag ‘?’ as revealed by device on twitter.

TeamSoLoMid were world’s highest paid CS:GO team when they were intially signed up for; now the group will be looking for another association inside of Europe that will concede them control and adaptability, while TSM will push forward trying to manufacture another convenient that will be based close Los Angeles, California. Quas retires from professional gaming after suspension from Team Liquid, reveals why was he suspended

In a public statement made by Quas of Team Liquid, he made it very clear and open to everyone on why was he suspended from the team, not disclosing the matter quiet a bit, Quas revealed that the cause of his termination of the team was completely on his part, and he himself is responsible for the same while having anxiety and depression issues. Shockingly, we come to know from his statement that Quas retires from professional gaming scene also after this controvery and he will be concentrating on something else apart from competitive eSports.

Read his full statement here:

Hey everyone, I want to voice my thoughts and talk about my situation for all the fans out there who are curious about what happened. At my request, Team Liquid did not disclose any details regarding the suspension and I thank them for that.

I never spoke out about this but I might as well do it now. I’ve dealt with depression and anxiety issues growing up since my early teenage years, having a hard time building relationships with people and getting along with others in healthy ways.

My biggest way to cope with this has been through video games; to me it’s been more than just a hobby; I’d describe it as a way of seeking greatness and motivation towards something while staying in a comfort zone. It distracted me from dealing with some of my personal issues, as well as pursuing my own goals in life. My mind was so focused on video games that I was able to get a P-1 Athletic visa and gain recognition as one of the best players in my role. I was given opportunities that were not available in Venezuela and under Team Curse and then Team Liquid was able to compete, earn a good living and have experiences I never thought I would have.

The last couple of weeks have been pivotal for my self-development. I started taking responsibility over my depression and frustrations about my personal development thus far in my life. You could call it growing up, whatever it is, it has given me more control of what I want to do moving forward. Unfortunately, this process has not been easy and I’ve done it in nonconstructive, aggressive and inappropriate ways that led to behaviors that resulted in my suspension from Team Liquid.

I realize now the impact all of this has had on my teammates, management and other Team Liquid staff is not becoming of any professional athlete.

I’m not going to get into the details and I hope the community and my fans can accept that and support me and the team moving forward. I’ve offered my help in any way that I can to Steve (LiQuiD112 ), so that they can still be a strong and successful team in this next LCS Season.

Having just turned 24 I’ve thought out my options; I’ve decided to retire from professional gaming and in turn pursue other passions in my life; to also get myself out of the comfort zone I’ve become accustomed to. As far as my future – I’m still figuring out the details but for now I’m looking to pursue a medical career.

In the meantime, while I get going, I’ll do private lessons with fans and use my expertise in League while I explore schooling options. Additionally, I’m nearly completed with a top lane book project that I started a few months ago that will be my last contribution to the league community and my fans.

If you’ve any thoughts, inquiries, or just want to send me a message – you can do so at [email protected].

As a closing note, I’d like to give my thanks to the people at Team Liquid/ Team Curse who helped me by giving me the chance to compete at a professional level, to Riot obviously for making it possible, and of course to the fans who supported me and TL. Also, thank you to everyone who read this for your time and understanding.

DreamHack eSports director opens up at alleged assault

The eSports and tournament Director has now made a statement regarding the ugly spat on DreamHack where two of the most senior public figures from DotA 2 and CS:GO were allegedly involved in a physical assault.

With DreamHack officially banning Lewis from all the further tournaments and events happening. HellSpawn, the Director at DreamHack went to twitter to clear the air and the confusion as it what actually happened at backstage and who was at fault.

You can find his complete statement below:

I was advised to be silent but I can’t stand it anymore. @RLewisReports strangled @LodaBerg and I was the one who with force stopped Richard so he wouldn’t deeply injure Loda, or worse. I don’t know what would have happened if I wasn’t there.

I came down and saw Richard and Kelly having a huge verbal dispute. I took the position between the two and when Kelly walked off I tried to calm Richard down and advised him to let this go as it wasn’t worth it.

While talking to Richard, Loda pops up without me really being able to react. Loda didn’t touch Lewis but aggressively approached Richard. There was a fast and aggressive conversation where Loda said “I’m here, yes it’s me”. Suddenly Richard attacked Loda and started to strangle him.

Who strangles another when threatened? That’s beyond me! It wasn’t like Richard tried to push Loda away and accidentally hit his throat. No, Richard grabbed Lodas throat with both hands and pushed him backwards towards the ground while strangling what to me looked very hard.

I grabbed Richard and pulled him through the door. I was upset and sad that he had fucked up the situation so badly as I had tried to calm him down. This story was given as a witness to the police on site.

Later on DreamHack staff was able to get both parties to agree to settle this and move on. Loda wanted a guarantee that Richard wouldn’t spin this online which they both eventually agreed on.

Since then Richard have according to me, spinned this as much as he can in all direction to try to become the victim and to bait people like me to overstep and react.

Here is the truth from someone who witnessed this from a 1 meter distance and had to act with civil courage and wanted to settle this to move on without this being a public circus and popularity contest.

YellOwStaR departs from fnatic

0

There has been a numerous amount of swaping being done at the fnatic HQ at te League of Legends roster and it has led to loads of queries, questions and development of doubtful competence in the organization’s roster. And one more blow to the team as YellOwStaR departs.

707x0_crop-80

As reported by the content head of fnatic, ‘Shouren’ Craig Ting, Bora had his priorities set to a new level of experiences and tryouts in certain fresh fields and fnatic wouldn’t resist individuals to be in the organization unwillingly. He added:

As the in-game corner stone of the 2015 team, and Fnatic brand ambassador at large, we were looking at the prospect to have YellOwStaR within our organisation for many more years, not just as a player but as core member of the Fnatic organization. As our discussions continued, it became apparent that desires for different experiences and new challenges were very high on his list of priorities. Even though our offer remained higher than others and included more long term ways to be rewarded, YellOwStaR valued challenging himself and experiencing new things above all else, and we understand and respect his decision to head abroad.

YellOwStaR’s spent five years playing in the European League of Legends scene and the majority of his career flying fnatic’s flag. He’s now chosen to experience a new environment and culture outside of the EU LCS in Berlin and his homeland of France, where he’s lived and gamed for many years, even before his League career.

Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim’s comment on the departure made it very clear that is was pre-determined and he had the plans to try a new set of experiments in his future course of the eSports career. His full statement on the announcement as follows:

Starting today, I will no longer be part of Fnatic.
My Esports journey as a real professional player all started in 2013. It was a tough choice, a huge turn in my life to finally decide to quit university to take a lifetime opportunity to experience this amazing path and get to work with awesome people. In the first place, I want to thank the 2013 League of Legends’ roster for choosing me over other players. I was joining the biggest European team and with such players, it is hard to show that you are the missing piece of the puzzle, to gain the trust from your teammates, staff and the fans. It was with a lot of pressure that I accepted to face this challenge.

Three years passed by, and i can tell you that we tried our very best every day, every minute of the time we had in front of us to train and play. I’m incredibly proud of this 5 EU LCS titles we grabbed out of 6 possible, without missing these both Top 3/4 at Worlds 2013 & 2015 !
To speak out the truth, I had a bit of a shaky year earlier this season. Being left alone in the team was not an easy task to handle, either for me of the Fnatic management, and i had a lot of thoughts about whether retiring or not. I almost gave up, i have to admit. Imagine yourself in front of the Everest mountains that you have to climb in a very short period of time, with a huge storm approaching, and you get an image of what was ahead of us. The fact is that in my inner self, i couldn’t accept to jump out from a tough situation. Fnatic gave me so much, you guys gave me so much with your support, that I had to get this team back on track.

Being grateful and loyal is a part of me, and that was the least I could do.

Here we are today: Huni & ReignOver left the team, leaving me again in a difficult position : either building a new team or considering other options. It’s never a good thing to hear, but after careful overall reflection, I had the opportunity to join a team being at my best level in North America and get the chance to experience a new lifestyle and environment.

After a careful overall reflection, i took the decision to join the North American LCS for the 2016 season.

Finally, I honestly want to thank everyone that I met and got to work with, from teammates to people involved in the Fnatic organization and all the fans that supported me throughout the years.

I hope that you will understand my decision and will continue to support me in my career!

Sincerely yours,

Bora “YellowStar” Kim

As of now fnatic doesn’t have a complete roster and they are subsequently looking forward to assign a couple of new players so as to compete in the upcoming tournaments.
