2020 has undoubtedly been a harsh year for streamers. From new and stricter DMCA rules being implemented to worlds like ‘simp’ being banned from the platform, the past year has seen it all.
Needless to say, a number of streamers have also received bans from the platform for breaking its rules, some of which are highly controversial.
Let’s take a look back at the top 3 Twitch bans of 2020
- Carl Riemer: Carl Reimer is a professional Call of Duty player and a (now former) SoaR Gaming member. On March 5th, the streamer was interacting with his Twitch chat and entertaining his viewers without realizing he might be making a mistake that could potentially cost him his entire career.
“B**** say I ain’t got money,” he casually joked while holding onto his Glock and pulling the trigger. Much to his surprise, the gun discharged on his monitor. Luckily, no one was injured in this incident except for a can of G-Fuel that took injuries it might not recover from.
His Twitch account was immediately suspended and he was dropped from his clan SoaR gaming which they declared through a tweet.
- Dr Disrespect: Herschel ‘Dr Disrespect” Breahm has found himself amid a number of controversies this year. However, the reason behind his Twitch ban is still not certain even after all these months.
While Dr Disrespect being banned from Twitch isn’t exactly a new thing, his sudden ban from the streaming platform and his subsequent switch to YouTube Gaming surely caught the millions of his fans off-guard.
- Neymar Jr: Following his remarkable success in Soccer, Paris Saint-German forward Neymar Jr has made his debut as a prominent video game streamer and a CSGO enthusiast this year.
However, his Soccer stardom doesn’t make him immune to Twitch bans. Neymar received a ban from the platform following an incident where he intentionally disclosed Richarlison’s contact number on his live stream.
