Twitch community urges addition of the transgender tag

Twitch transgender community urges for the addition of the transgender category so that the content creator under it can be found effortlessly.

The community was already under unrest after Twitch took down the PogChamp emote and now the petitions for the addition of the transgender community have been taken a step forward. Twitch streamer Miabyte has been one of the faces of the movement, spreading awareness about the importance of the addition. She has continued to ask developers over at Twitch to look past the discrimination and help elevate the trans community.

“Twitch. Pls stand behind trans creators on your platform. We already get harassment, a tag won’t change that. It will do the opposite. We can create bonds & communities to support one another. Help bolster representation on your platform. It’ll even increase your revenue.” read her Tweet.

She claimed that Twitch has promised that such a tag is in the works for over two years now. Twitch rocks an LGBT tag but transgender streamers are looking for something more specific to categorize their content under.

Many users agreed that the tag will bring awareness to trans streamers and attract viewers to their broadcasts. The movement has gained more momentum like never before and the addition of the category seems more like than it ever was. Miabyte and many other streamers are working relentlessly that Twitch can respect by agreeing to their requests.
