BGIS 2023 Format: Everything You Need to Know

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023, a prestigious event with a grand prize of ₹2 crores (approximately $245K), is set to kick off on August 10 and will continue until October 14. This event is a golden opportunity for both emerging and seasoned BGMI teams to showcase their gaming prowess. Moreover, it promises to be a thrilling spectacle for fans.

Open to All: The Inclusive Nature of BGIS 2023

The BGIS 2023 is an inclusive tournament, welcoming any team from India to register and compete in this mega event. Krafton, the organizer, will open registrations from July 24 to August 2 via the official Battlegrounds Mobile India Esports website. To be eligible, all team members must have achieved at least level 25 and Platinum 5 rank.

The Grind: The Path to BGIS 2023

‘The Grind’ tournament serves as a qualifying contest, inviting 256 teams directly. The top 64 teams from this tournament will secure their spots in the main event. The BGIS 2023 format includes several stages: In-Game Qualifiers, Online Qualifiers (Round 1 to 4), Losers Bracket, Semi-Finals, and Grand Finals.

The Battle of the Best: In-Game and Online Qualifiers

The In-Game Qualifiers will see all registered teams compete, with the top 2048 squads advancing to the Online Qualifiers (Round 1). These teams will be divided into 128 groups, with the top three from each group and 96 highest-ranked teams moving to the next round.

Survival of the Fittest: Rounds 2 and 3

In Round 2, 480 teams from Round 1 and the bottom 32 teams from ‘The Grind’ will face off, with 224 teams progressing to Round 3. In Round 3, these 224 teams, along with the top 32 teams from ‘The Grind’, will be divided into 16 groups. The top four teams from each group will advance to Round 4, while the fifth-ranked team from each group will enter the Losers Bracket.

The Final Showdown: Rounds 4, Semi-Finals, and Grand Finals

Round 4 will feature the top 64 teams from Round 3, divided into four groups. The top four teams from each group will secure their spots in the Semi-finals, while the remaining teams will compete in the Losers Bracket. The Semi-finals will see the top 16 teams from Round 4 and the top 16 from the Losers Bracket. The best 16 teams will then proceed to the Grand Finals, held from October 12 to 14. The champions will be awarded a whopping ₹75 lakhs by Krafton.
