Recently, the Twitter handle of Free Fire Brazil revealed that one Brazilian player tested positive after arriving in Singapore and has recovered since then.

Two teams from Brazil are currently participating in this tournament but the identity of player or the roster has not been disclosed. Their social media handle posted a long thread explaining the situation. A rough translation is as follows:

“A Brazilian participant, when entering Singapore to participate in the Singapore Free Fire World Championship (#FFWS) 2021, was tested positive for COVID-19 upon arriving at the host country of the competition.⁣ The participant was tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding to Singapore and, as part of our strict protocols, was placed on Stay-Home Notice immediately after arriving in the country. After being tested positive, the participant was taken to a hospital for treatment, having recovered completely and was discharged from the hospital. The participant now follows his remaining time in SHN. We will continue to work with the authorities to ensure the safety and success of the World Cup.”

The player had tested negative before boarding the flight but was found positive with COVID-19 upon arrival. He was immediately hospitalized and has made a successful recovery. Those in close contact with the player were also quarantined.
