Garena, the mastermind behind 2019’s most downloaded Battle Royale title on mobile known as Free Fire has announced the lineup of esports events for 2020. They will be hosting 4 international tournaments this year with a total prize pool of 14 crore rupees.
Due to the massive popularity Free Fire achieved in India itself, the developers have mentioned that there will be separate Indian qualifiers leading up to the main international events. The first international event of the year will be the Free Fire Champions Cup 2020 on April 19th at Jakarta, Indonesia. Garena will also feature two never seen before global scale events in the months of June and July. The final milestone will be the Free Fire World Series which will happen in the month of November 2020 and will be the second iteration of the tournament. The World Series will be hosted in Brazil which is the place of origin of the previous year’s winners, Team Corinthians.
Talking about the esports scene in India, the registration for Free Fire India Championship has come to an end as we eagerly await the commencement of the qualifier stage right from 31st Jan. Players stand to win from a prize pool of 35 Lakh rupees in this massive India based Free Fire event.
