“New approach for future kids” Maharashtra State Minister on Esports

Indian state government ministers are starting to recognize the potential of esports. In an unveiling ceremony of ESPL Unplugged this evening, Maharashtra’s Sports Minister Hon’ble Sunil Chhatrapal Kedar had some encouraging testimony for the kids of the future generations.

The Minister in a video byte said he’s delighted that India Today have crafted such a wonderful opportunity for the gamers in the country. The Minister went on to unveil ESPL’s city franchise team ‘Mumbai Marshals’.

“It’s a pleasure for me to say a few words about this fantastic new approach for many kids and many future generations to come. I congratulate India Today for the task they have taken and I wish them a fantastic journey ahead.”

ESPL is India Today’s flagship gaming IP for mobile gamers. The event ESPL has already broken records by acknowledging registrations of over a million Free Fire gamers in their first event.

ESPL’s Director Vishwalok Nath is on a country-long journey to promote esports and gaming in India by taking onboard State Ministers for the ESPL franchises.

This is a significant move considering multiple government authorities have in the past stirred debates if gaming promotes violence; on the other hand trade bodies encouraged the government to levy bans on game titles.


Other than Mumbai Marshals, there have been other ESPL franchise city teams which were revealed during the ESPL Unplugged ceremony. The unique part of the relevation were the announcement by all the State Sports Ministers.

The delegates who lead the Sports Ministery of their respective states have strongly encouraged gamers and India Today to promote esports and gaming activites in India.

RJ Balaji

Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Punjab & Rajasthan had their ceremonies conducted by Hon’ble Ministers, whereas, Chennai Celestials was unveiled by famous radio jockey, director and actor, RJ Balaji.

Furthermore from the entertainment’s point of view, famous Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, who has been the ambassador of the event also promoted the event through several social media channels and engaggement.
