Wild Rift patch 2.1: New Champions, Spectator mode, and more

Riot Games recently released a scheduled plan for release of various patch versions for League of Legends: Wild Rift throughout the year and one of the early patches is the upcoming version 2.1 update. The Wild Rift team teased some early content release for this patch and has revealed a ton of information in the process. Here is everything that Riot plans to bring to Wild Rift in the new Patch 2.1 update.

League of Legends: Wild Rift posted teasers on their social media handles which highlighted some new champions and skin lineup. It was easy to guess that new champions will include Rakan and Xayah in the next update and later, an official article confirmed these champions alongside three more.

Wild Rift Patch 2.1 Details:

The new patch 2.1 will hit Wild Rift on 2nd February 2021, according to the scheduled dates, and it will run for over two months. As Riot planned to release at least two new champions per month, we were expecting four new champions in this patch but the Wild Rift team has made an extra addition and added the infamous Katarina to the list.

New Champions

A total of six champions are coming in Wild Rift and their information is given below.

Xayah

Wild Rift Patch 2.1 New champion Xayah

A new marksmen categorized champion is going to be added to the game. Recently, Tristana and Teemo were already added in the ranged champions category and Xayah will be the latest addition. Her ability to shred champions will make it harder for Dragon Lane opponents to survive in matches. It will be interesting to see if Riot has made any changes while adding her to Wild Rift or not.

Rakan

Rakan is coming to Wild Rift alongside Xayah. This champion falls under support category and finally, a new champion is getting added to make the support experience quite different after a long time. The last addition was Lulu and now, Rakan will be the flagbearer for new support pick in matches. These two champions will be added in February.

Katarina

A new high-APM assassin champion named Katarina will be added to Wild Rift. Her release date is not given but as this champion is one of the iconic and overpowered pick from the League, she will bring a new meta of assassins with her.

Pantheon, Leona and Diana

Three new champions named Leona, the Radiant Dawn, Diana, Scorn of the Moon, and Pantheon, the Unbreakable Spear will be added to Wild Rift in March 2021. Leona will be a support pick whereas Pantheon and Diana will be Baron lane priority picks.

New Events

Two new events will be added to Wild Rift in this new patch. The first event is going to be Lunar Beast event which will run in February and the next big event is Path of Ascension, which will be available in the month of March. Looking at the previous events, it is possible that new champions could be procured from these events.

New Skins: Omega Squad and Project

Two new skin line-ups will be launched in Wild Rift very soon. The first one could be Omega Squad and it is quite possible that Teemo will be getting a new skin through this. The next skin is termed as Project and in the featured image, we get to see a sci-fi skin of Zed.

New Feature: Spectator Mode

After a long wait, Wild Rift is finally adding a new spectator mode through which, players can replay their previous games and analyze their matches and even spectate their friends. The spectator mode is also added for custom matches and hence, the Wild Rift esports can finally be kickstarted by having a dedicated viewing mode to custom matches.

These are all the additions which are officially revealed till date. Riot has stated that many more features are not added to this list for now and players can directly see these new additions in-game or through official patch notes when the update is launched.
