Valve the game developers behind the fan-favourite game series Half-Life is set to announce a new Half-Life game named Half-Life: Alyx, a flagship VR game this Thursday at 10am PT.
The new game won’t be a continuation of the Half-Life 2 story, but rather will feature the story of Alyx Vance, a young women and prominent figure from Half-Life 2’s story, who played a major role in human resistance and was close friend to game’s protagonist, Gordan Freeman.
Although some fans might be disappointed as they were hoping to see the continuations of Freeman’s journey, but we should not right off the game just yet. Valve might have a surprise lore about Freeman in Alyx’s story which might also act as plot for the next game.
Right now, the game is staged to be a flagship VR title only and no confirmation for PC version is available at the moment. The release of flagship VR game follows Valve’s release of “Valve Index”, their own dedicated VR headset. At the time of reveal of Index, Valve had confirmed about a flagship VR game in works to be released before the end of the year.
Following that various leaks also surfaced about a Half-Life game in work, with the story script leaks by the writer to presence of codes in Source 2 engine referring to Half-Life. The talk heated yet again yesterday when a transcript of interview between Valve executives and a game broadcaster leaked online which stated “March 2020, ‘Half-Life: Alyx’ coming out.”
After the debate heated, Valve themselves posted about the upcoming announcement of the game on Twitter confirming the previous leak.
