Arcane Becomes First Streaming Series To Win Emmy Awards

Last night, Riot Games’ newest animated series Arcane won a Creative Arts Emmy award for Outstanding Animated Program, making it the first streaming show to pick up the award.

Arcane won the award in a highly contested category. The rest of the nominations included Bob’s BurgersRick and MortyThe Simpsons, and What If…?

Previously, we had seen nominations for streaming shows like Netflix’s Big Mouth and BoJack Horseman contending for an Emmy in the category, but none of them managed to come out on top, which makes this achievement all the more remarkable for Arcane.

Specifically, Arcane was nominated for the 2022 Emmy for its sixth episode of the first season, titled “When These Walls Come Tumbling Down.

Earlier this year, we saw various episodes of the animated Netflix series win three juried Emmy awards combined for background design, art direction, and color script art.

Arcane Season 2: Is it coming?

Luckily, it has been confirmed that the second season of Arcane is already in the works. However, we don’t have a specific release date set in stone. The only thing we know so far is that Arcane season 2 won’t be arriving in 2022, as confirmed by Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent.
