Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows require an internet connection to play?

Ubisoft’s upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been the topic of discussion for the fans of the franchise. The game’s highlight is the ability to play two distinct characters with unique playstyles. The gaming community well received the official trailer depicting 16th-century Japan and it was successful in intriguing a lot of fans and players alike.

The hype and excitement are through the roof and some players just can’t wait to get their hands on the game. Well, it looks like the game requires an active internet connection to install. This requirement caused many fans to question if the game would require an active internet connection to play.

Following concerns in the gaming community, Ubisoft came with an official statement where they confirmed that an active internet connection is a must to install the game, but you will be able to play the entire game without the need for an active internet connection. This means that Assassin’s Creed Shadows cannot be installed offline unlike other games, where offline verification is possible.

If ‘why?’ is the question racing through your mind, then you should know that most companies are trying to reduce the cost of distributing games. On the internet, most people do not prefer buying physical copies of the game. Almost everyone nowadays prefers an online copy. What would come in the form of a second disc to verify the purchase can now be downloaded from the internet. You consider this as a step from Ubisoft against piracy of the game.

Having said this, if you have an internet connection at home then this requirement won’t be a concern for you. How effective is this step against piracy? That will be a test of time.
