Australian CSGO Player Receives 1 Year Ban for Falsifying Documents

Tyson “asap” Paterson from the Australian team Rooster has been handed a 12-month ban for submitting falsified ID documents to ESL in order to circumvent an age restriction.

Australian CSGO Player Tyson “asap” Paterson has received a year ban from Dreamhack, ESL, and ESEA tournaments and leagues for falsifying documents on his age in attempts to participate in an age-restricted tournament.

On November 28, ESL Australia organizes a 2v2 CSGO tournament with an age-restriction of 18+. After Paterson signed up to compete in the tournament, ESL officials initiated an age-verification process since his age was submitted as 17 in previous tournaments.

Paterson proceeded to provide the officials with a fake date-of-birth. When he was asked to provide verification, he submitted a falsified document altering his actual date-of-birth. ESL’s request for video material to verify the authenticity of the provided document was denied.

“Following the gathering of the falsified document and additional information, the player was informed about a possible suspension,” ESL stated in their blog post. “The player then went on to send a video of the real ID and admitted that he was indeed 17 and after some further talking he admitted that he had sent in a false ID to try and get around the 18+ restriction.”

The Australian CSGO player Paterson has been served with a year-long ban on account of him providing falsified documents to ESL. The ban is active from 2/12/2020.
