Battlefield 3, 4, and Hardline to Be Delisted on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

EA pulls the plug on digital sales for classic Battlefield titles on last-gen consoles.

On July 31, 2024, EA announced that they are set to remove Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield: Hardline from the digital marketplaces for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Battlefield has been one of the most iconic FPS video game franchises that has ever existed. Despite lacking a proper esports scene like COD, BF’s campaigns and multiplayer fell among the best in the business. BF 3,4 and Hardline were highly ranked as the fan favourites and their getting delisted marks the end of an era.

With the launch of the next generation of consoles, it can be argued whether anyone still uses PS3 or Xbox 360 so having said games removed would barely make a difference especially when their game servers remain active and owners of the physical copy still enjoy the game.

Starting July 31st, any content surrounding the game will be removed from the stores of Xbox360 and PS3. This only affects the ability to purchase the game for the first time with said consoles. However, if you are too eager, you are always buy to pick up a physical copy assuming you can find one.

While this doesn’t bring any significant change for gamers now with the latest generation of consoles in play, we can see the world of video games move forward.
