In a shocking turn of events, a player from Team NiY, Scorpion, competing in the ongoing Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2024 (BGIS 2024) has been handed a 10-year ban ahead of the Semifinals stage for violating the game’s code of conduct through cheating. The player was banned live during Upthrust Pro Scrims 4.0 and later the news spread through a circulating screenshot of an in-game notification that confirms the ban.

The screenshot of the in-game notification confirming the ban of NiYscorpion due to verified instances of cheating. The notification, dated 2024-06-01, cites a history of malpractice as the basis for the imposed ban. The notification reads, “We have verified that NiYscorpion, the player you reported on 2024-06-01 12:08 has cheated. Based on the player’s history of cheating, we have banned this player for 10 years and removed all illicitly obtained benefits. We will severely punish any players who seek to ruin the game environment! Thank you for helping us create a clean gaming environment for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA. Happy gaming!”

Team NiY had emerged as one of the 32 teams qualifying for the BGIS 2024 Semifinals Week 1, demonstrating impressive performance thus far. Scorpion’s ban has undoubtedly cast a pall of uncertainty over the team’s future in the tournament.
