BGMI Ban: Krafton to meet Indian Government Tomorrow – Sources

The popular battle royale game, Battlegrounds Mobile India, is officially banned in India. According to the government official sources close to TalkEsport, BGMI has been banned and Krafton officials will hold a meeting with MeitY tomorrow over this issue. The banishment has been issued over data migration concerns related to the game and its Chinese connections.

BGMI Banned in India

According to our source, Battlegrounds Mobile India is banned in India over the same concerns that were listed while banning PUBG Mobile. The main concern over this banhammer is the data migration issue and its connections with China.

Recently, PUBG Mobile was the part of monsoon parliamentary session where multiple questions were raised about the replica applications surfacing in India that were previously banned by the MeitY.

One of the questions raised in this session was based on media reports about a boy killing his mother over a PUBG Mobile match. This horrific incident led to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to write a letter to MeitY seeking explanation of how PUBG Mobile is available for minors despite the game being banned in the country.

Following this ban order, Krafton officials have started to take action and will be meeting with MeitY and other government officials tomorrow to resolve this issue.

Why was BGMI removed from Google Play Store?

BGMI was seen as the replacement of PUBG Mobile in India as Krafton broke its ties with Tencent to launch a local version of this game. BGMI is currently the top grossing game in India but it was abruptly removed from the Google Play Store.

BGMI was unlisted from the official app stores a few hours ago and its reason was not officially cited anywhere. The apparent reason for this removal is the ban order imposed by Indian govt. which mandates all the regulating bodies to follow it and remove the access to BGMI.

What is next for BGMI?

BGMI is now banned in India and a similar scenario that was followed after PUBG Mobile ban could be seen in the country. Indian player base now has a replacement in the form of PUBG: New State.
