Big win DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020

BIG dominate on their home soil, see off Renegades to win Dreamhack Open Leipzig 2020

With two new Signings of Nils ‘k1to’ Gruhne and Florian ‘syrsoN’ Rische, German Giants BIG proved out to be the true title contenders as they set up a valiant show against Renegades by clean sweeping them 2-0 at the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 Grand finals.

Post Match Analysis

The Best of 3 series started on Mirage where the Aussies picked up the pistol round on their CT side with Simon “Sico” Williams and Christopher “Dexter” Nong helping Renegades take a healthy 4-1 lead. But the Germans couldn’t live up with the humiliation as Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardes came out to be on top with his guns blazing, creating opportunities to help his team lay their flags during some crucial moments. Also, we witnessed the new duo Nils “k1to” Gruhne and Florian “syrsoN” Rische giving BIG the bigger edge over the Aussies. The most terrorizing part on the map was the 14th round where k1t0’s Sniper Nest boost saw him wildly open up B site for business which saw Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and his men close the first half with an unassailable lead of 10-5 on their T side. Coming to the second half, Renegades didn’t seem to come out of their misery as the Germans denied Dexter and his men to capture the A site on the pistol round. Things still couldn’t be better for Renegades as they failed to defend the planted C4 credits to Jordan “Hatz” Bajic who had a scintillating performance which saw him and his team Beat the NA giants Cloud9 twice in a row. However, k1to and his team’s collective performances saw them on the brink of securing Matchpoint when again k1to came out to be on top with a successful 4k B site defence with his SG-553. We saw the Germans close out things on their Map pick when syrsoN sniped down two guys to avoid the A site hit along with the rest of the team doing the honours to successfully defend the A-Site.

Moving on to Renegades’s pick Dust 2, the Aussies once again looked promising by clinching the pistol round with Dexter’s heroics denying the C4 Carrier to execute his plans towards the B site. But Renegades couldn’t hang out there on the map with the Germans as tabseN opened up the A site for business with his SG thus putting a notable performance along with XANTARES and k1to who did punish the CTs with some of their dirty Lurk setups. Florian “syrsoN” Rische did contribute by setting up an instrumental performance with his AWP to make his team feel home all over the map layout. Some collective efforts from Dexter and Sico saw Renegades to potentially halt the charging Terrorists but they all seemed to go in Vain as the duo of k1to and Tizian “tiziaN” Feldbusch proved to be a nuisance for the Aussies. Yet another tabseN’s 3k with his Krieg gave his team an upper hand by closing the first half with a healthy 11-4 lead. With the fire still in their bellies, Renegades made sure no flaws hinder their plans as the collective aggressive plays from Dexter and Joshua “INS” Potter helped their team to square out the scores 11on11 on their T side. But the Germans seemed way docile when k1to halted the blazing Aussies to capture the flag on B site by Scoping down two guys with his Krieg who were charging up. With no gas left in their tank, Renegades seemed helpless when they were stopped by k1to once again when the later scoped down 3 guys earning his team the match point. Low on the economy and with just the pistols along with scarce utilities, XANTARES finally put Renegades out of their misery as he secured a 3k in the Lower Tunnels helping his team lift the Dreamhack Title on their home soil at Leipzig.
