Brazilian CSGO pros LUCAS1 and fnx tested positive for COVID-19

Imperial Esports have cancelled their European bootcamp following two of their players contracting COVID-19.

Brazilian CSGO team Imperial Esports have confirmed through a tweet that two of their players have tested positive for COVID-19, making them cancel their scheduled bootcamp in Serbia.

While the team hasn’t dismissed the possibility of a “false positive” result obtained by the PCR test, they decided not to go for a retest because the time required for the publication of results would surpass the deadline for their departure to Europe.

Imperial Esports have refrained from mentioning the names of the players who contracted the disease but have confirmed that all of its players are currently asymptomatic.

However, it was quite obvious that the two players who had tested positive for COVID-19 were fnx and LUCAS1.

LUCAS1 himself declared the news through a tweet, which roughly translates to, “I was tested positive for COVID-19, but I’m super well! Thank you for your messages.”

As for fnx, Imperial Esports’ statement hinted that one of the players who tested positive for COVID-19 before the bootcamp was also previously diagnosed with the disease. According to some, the only player in their roster who was previously diagnosed with COVID-19 was fnx, so it was apparent. However, fnx hasn’t made a statement himself as of yet confirming that he had indeed contracted the disease.

Imperial Esports have confirmed that they’ll support their team members during these troubling times and they’ll continue practicing from Brazil to prepare for upcoming tournaments.

“The team will continue to train in Brazil to achieve the best results, always seeking victory in all events that participate in honoring their commitments, as well as the affection of our fans.”
