In a Flashpoint Q&A session on September 9th, newly signed Cloud9 general manager Henry “HenryG” Greer has revealed that the organisation will be publicly announcing the salaries, contract lengths and transfer fees of all players in their CSGO roster.
“I will be announcing all of the salaries, contract lengths and transfer fees of all my players,” Henry said during the interview. “I see this as a big investment in great talent and the future of what we’re building here in Cloud9. I want that message to be very clear from the get go.”
This sort of step is unprecedented in professional CSGO and is garnering both appraisal and mild criticism from fans across social media platforms.
While most people are agreeing that this move becoming the mainstream could be huge for the competitive scene, some are raising concerns that it may pave the way for unwanted toxicity in case a player underperforms.
Player-turned-commentator HenryG was announced as the general manager of Cloud9 on September 7th after he called an end to his casting career a few days prior. HenryG had been looking for new talents to rebuild the Cloud9 roster from scratch alongside head coach Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović.
