Complexity beats Eternal Fire to qualify for IEM Cologne

From Doubt to Domination: Complexity's Epic Comeback at IEM Cologne

Complexity has taken down favorites Eternal Fire to book their spot in the IEM Cologne main event at the Cathedral aka the Laxess Arean. The North American side took convincing a 2-0 victory over the Turks after many had doubted them.

Eternal Fire started their map pick with a pistol-round victory and built on it to reach a 3-0 lead which after that was stretched to a 4-round lead by the end of the half as Complexity only managed to get 4 rounds on their defence. Eternal Fire walked away with an 8-4 lead in the first half of the map.

The second half saw Eternal Fire fall off a cliff as Complexity dominated the entire way to make a comeback. Eternal Fire could cut it close on multiple occasions but a well-drilled T side that only lost a single round closed the map with a 13-9 scoreline. EliGE stood out as the best player on the server with an IR of 1.65 and 23 frags.

Map 2: Dust 2; Pick – Complexity; Winner – Complexity

With a rough start on their map pick, Complexity started on the backfoot as Eternal Fire looked to equalize the scoreline. Both teams got their fair share of rounds before moving to the second half. Dust 2 being Dust 2, the match remained open for the taking as both teams were trading blows.

The second half was unable to separate the two teams as CoL barely managed to push the match to overtime after Eternal Fire almost took it out of their hands. It two 2 overtimes for CoL to put Eternal Fire down as they progress after a tiring 19-17 victory to close the match with a 2-0 scoreline.
