The anticipation surrounding the release of a new CS2 Operation is palpable, with numerous leaks fueling speculation about the Operation’s potential launch date. Yet, unraveling the mystery behind the first CS2 Operation to date is anything but straightforward.
The launch of Valve’s competitive shooter Counter-Strike 2 has been far from ideal. At the time of the game’s release, CS2 was riddled with game-breaking bugs and issues involving the new sub-tick system and other aspects of the title. While the developers have been pretty swift to patch out most of these underlying problems, some of the bugs continue to haunt the player base to this day.
Given that a significant portion of the developers’ time is currently dedicated to addressing issues within the game, the prospect of simultaneously working on a new CS2 Operation seems rather improbable. However, we’ve seen plenty of leaks about the next CS2 Operation surface on the internet recently, which might suggest otherwise.
New CS2 Operation Leaks
When the closed beta for Counter-Strike 2 was first released, dataminers were able to find lines of codes that pointed to a new Operation. A Tweet by prominent dataminer Gabe Follower leaked 3 new weapon collections – Counter-Strike, Pop Comic, Myth & Monsters – alongside a new form of cosmetics called ‘pets’. Fans suspect that these new cosmetics and skin collections are part of the upcoming CS2 operation, which is highly likely since Operations generally introduce a bunch of new collections to the game at once.
We also know that map developers are actively working on remaking some of the iconic CS:GO maps like Santorini, Cache, and Train in the Source 2 engine. These maps are also highly likely to be added to CS2 alongside a new Operation.
CS2 Operation 12: Release Date
As previously mentioned, the precise release date of the next CS2 Operation remains uncertain at the time of writing. Fans may anticipate the new Operation to debut around May 2024, closely aligning with the release pattern of CS2 in September 2023.
