According to one of his managers, Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota is reportedly looking to invest in a CS2 team. Jota already owns Luna Galaxy and teams in major esports like Dota 2, EA FC, and Rocket League, and has set their eyes on CS2.
CS2 is a very lucrative area of investment for football players and Jota is set to become the latest one in the long list of footballers who have put their eyes on the game. Recently, he was seen attending the Esports World Cup that took place in Saudi Arabia, likely getting a feel of the business.
CS2 is fairly new but the esport dynamic for the game has hardly changed given it is still one of the more profitable esports. While CS2 teams don’t become profitable right off the bat and like any sports, there is no way of telling whether you will be able to make a winning side but Jota’s name will surely pull sponsors towards the team.
Being present at the EWC, we can assume that he is not interested in making a regional second-tier team, rather being a resident of the EU, he might pull out all the stops to field a tier-1 roster that gets to compete at the highest level of CS2.
