Dust 2 was taken off the official map pool for a while and the decision yielded mixed reactions from the community as it was often described as the most balanced map in the game which made it a go-to for many professional teams across the world.
Post its reintroduction, Dust 2 is now the most-played map among the top 30 teams this week after all TOs migrated to the new map pool. It’s rapidly becoming evident that Dust 2 won’t be abandoned like other maps that have previously entered the pool upon its reappearance.
Upon its reintroduction on May 13th in the competitive map pool, Dust 2 has become the most-played map ahead of Vertigo and Mirage.
Dust 2 is known for its familiarity given it’s the map everyone learned this game on when they were new. The wide open areas that AWPers can feast off and the simple layout make it easy for everyone to learn how to play the map.
CS2 did not bring any significant changes to the map which makes it easy for teams to go back to their old playbooks for the map as the fundamentals for it remain the same. Hence, it is no surprise that it became the most played in a brief time.
