G2 Opens Their PGL Bucharest Campaign With a 2-0 Win Over Gamerlegion

G2 has secured a convincing victory over GamerLegion to open up their PGL Bucharest campaign. Despite the news of m0NESY’s departure surfacing, the team seems unaffected in terms of their performance. With this victory, G2 will need two more wins to make it to the playoffs.

Map 1: Mirage; Pick: GamerLegion; Winner: G2

GamerLegion had the toughest start to Mirage, going 6-0 as huNter led a solid defence for G2. With the supporting cast in sync, G2’s smooth start to Mirage was completely overturned as GL managed to win the final 6 rounds to close the half. Starting the second half with a leveled scoreline, G2’s offense did not let GamerLegion get going, losing no more than 2 rounds. G2 sailed past GL as their defence was systematically broken, and without being able to recover, G2 closed the map with a dominant scoreline of 13-8.

Map 2: Inferno; Pick: G2; Winner: G2

Starting on the offense, G2’s 5-1 start on the T side could not keep up the momentum as GL’s defence adapted to the game by the end of the half. Recovering from the deficit, G2 managed to edge out a narrow lead by the end of the half. Despite a tough fight, G2’s shaky defence somehow pushed the game to overtime. Winning all overtime rounds, G2 secured the win with a dominant end to the heavily one-sided overtime. With 24 kills to his name, huNter has once again been the key piece for G2 while the star players fell back into the supporting cast.

GamerLegion managed to push G2 in their map pick, showing that teams should be wary of them on their day. While this loss is a significant setback, the Swiss format is lenient enough to let GL have some headroom before they bomb out of the tournament.
