G2 makes it to the IEM Katowice playoffs beating Heroic

Despite a rocky start to the campaign, G2 Esports has managed to book a spot in the playoffs of the IEM Katowice beating Heroic in 2-0 fashion. NiKo and co. have made it to Spodek as they look to defend the trophy they won dominantly right at the twilight of CSGO.

Veto:

  • Heroic removed Inferno
  • G2 removed Mirage
  • Heroic picked Vertigo
  • G2 picked Nuke
  • Heroic removed Anubis
  • G2 removed Overpass
  • Ancient was left over

MAP 1: Vertigo

Heroic’s pick of Vertigo was a logical choice after G2’s disastrous performance on said map against Monte. Despite the unconvincing start, G2 was able to pick up 6 rounds in a row after Heroic got off to a 4-0 start. G2 was able to take a lead before Heroic got back on the board and closed the first half on level terms before we moved to the second half. Yet another pistol-round loss saw G2 go behind by 4 rounds before they were able to put together a string of 6 rounds before closing the map with a 13-9 scoreline. m0NESY stood out as the best player who failed to deliver in the last game posting 19 frags at a steller IR of 1.59.

MAP 2: Nuke

A pistol-round victory saw Heroic go 5-0 up on their defence before G2 posted their first T-side round. G2 turned up the heat on their offence and got 7 rounds in a row without failing thus closing the first half with a 5-7 scoreline. G2 despite losing the fourth pistol round in a row managed to get back to their feet once guns came out. G2 let only one more round slip before dominantly closing the map with a 13-9 scoreline.
