Counter-Strike 2 has been around for quite a while now and most of the major updates aimed to fix the plethora of things wrong with the game since its launch. Even after months of it being released, players come across bugs that ruin the experience more often than not let alone an anti-cheat.
During Counter-Strike’s Birthday last month, fans assumed that Valve would bring forth a new Operation as it has been quite a while since Riptide was launched. However, all fans were greeted with was a celebratory tweet despite rumor mills pointing towards a new operation.
However, the latest developments pointed out by reliable Valve data miner Aquarius, a major update may be in the works and it can be expected soon.
According to Aquarius, CS2 developers have backed up the current stable build of the game on Steam. A major update generally follows this step as backing up gives them a chance to roll back the version on the off-chance that anything goes wrong.
While we cannot say for sure that what is on its way to the game an Operation would be an educated guess. Operations do not usually tend to create performance issues however, it is generally a massive update, and with CS2 tournaments like IEM Cologne around the corner, developers are not looking to push an update without keeping backups.
