NAVI eliminates G2 to book a spot in the semi-finals of the Blast World Finals

With both teams coming off the back of two heartfelt losses, G2 and NAVI look to bounce back with a spot in the semi-finals on the line. G2 went through a miserable loss after cutting it close against FaZe while NAVI had a more reasonable loss, especially during this transition era with several new faces who are not used to tier 1 CS.

Map Veto

  • Natus Vincere removed Vertigo
  • G2 removed Mirage
  • Natus Vincere picked Anubis
  • G2 picked Inferno
  • Natus Vincere removed Ancient
  • G2 removed Overpass
  • Nuke was left over

Map 1: Anubis (Pick: NAVI, Win: G2, Final Score: 16-13)

NAVI started the game in stellar fashion, dominating G2 across the first five rounds before m0nesy came up with an insane 1v5 clutch to put G2 on the board. G2 picked up some momentum off the back of m0nesy’s clutch that saw them get up to 6 rounds before the half came to an end. Following their initial streak of rounds, NAVI managed to pick up one more before switching to the offense.

G2 continued on the trend of losing out rounds early on before they got back to their winning ways, except they were cutting it too close. NAVI had iM and w0nderful firing on all cylinders that helped them reach map point before G2, pushing them into a round where NAVI lost to a force buy that enabled G2 to push the game to OT. Once in OT, G2 started on the CT side and let only a single round slip winning the remains ones to ensure they win NAVI’s map pick. w0nderful posted a rating of 1.33 with 26 frags to his name couldn’t push it over the line for his team against a well-drilled G2 side.

Map 2: Inferno (Pick: G2, Win NAVI:, Final Score: 13-11)

G2 kicked off with a strong T side, winning 5 rounds right off the bat before NAVI picked up their first. G2 went back on their habit of leaving the bomb alone which let Aleksib pull off a ninja defuse on the 7th round shifting the momentum towards NAVI who were able to pick up 5 rounds as opposed to 7 of G2 thereby putting up a very respectable scoreline before moving onto the second half.

G2 dropped the ball entirely in the second half as they failed to put together consecutive rounds on more than one occasion which led to NAVI making a comeback. b1t stood out as the best player for NAVI playing in the apartments and putting up incredible numbers. NAVI reached the map point first, just like the first map but G2 this time around came close to going to OT but got shut down instead. NAVI took us to a 3rd map after winning Inferno with a 13-11 scoreline.

Map 3: Nuke(Pick: Decider, Win: NAVI, Final Score: 13-6)

A topsy-turvy start to the final map of the series saw both teams trading force buy rounds until NAVI were able to put together a 5 in a row starting the 5th round. NiKo, who was their hero on this map the last time round lost most of his battle outside to iM giving G2 a lot less to work with thus narrowing down their offense towards the A site and ramp. NAVI edged out the first half with a 7-5 score.

Onto the second half, NAVI had G2’s number on every step of the way, despite their best efforts, Hooxi and co were not able to keep NAVI out for long as they won all the rounds on their offense except one and took no time to close out the match. A victory inspired by iM with a rating of 2.01 and 24 frags, saw NAVI book a place in the semi-finals as G2 bowed out of the tournament.
