Shaky G2 and a Disspointing Spirit Round Off EU RMR Group B Day 1

Day 1 Recap: Upsets & Close Calls in EU RMR Group B

Group B of European RMR presets the final teams participating in the Perfect World Shanghai Major. While several big names have already booked their spots at the big event, EU Group B houses some of the best teams, namely G2 and Spirit, among the favorites.

G2 and Spirit had a strong start to day 1 of the event with one-sided wins against Ninjas in Pyjamas and B8 respectively. Despite G2 letting a few rounds slip after reaching map point, they avoided another classic G2 throw to make sure the day started as they planned. Spirit on the other hand dominated B8 as they rushed to the finish line with them.

While G2 managed to win their second match of the day against Pandas which could have easily gone the other way, Spirit took a shocking L to Passion UA who concluded their Day with a 2-0, same as G2.

Virtus Pro and Astralis being the next big teams opened up poorly, losing to lesser-known names like Passion UA and Pandas respectively. Passion UA exceeded expectations and now they sit a win away from booking a spot in the Major. Astralis on the other hand took their second loss of the day against Sashi and contrary to Passion, they are a game away from losing out on a Major spot.

Spirit, Aurora, NiP, Sashi, Pandas, and Eternal Fire sit with a 1-1 scoreline as Day 1 concludes. While Spirit and Eternal Fire had better expectations of them, the result cannot be stated as surprising for the rest of the teams.

3DMAX came into the event with a respectable record but following their opening win against TSM, they walked into the match against Eternal Fire with more confidence which helped them push it over the line in a hard-fought victory that passed two overtimes.

The likes of G2, 3DMAX, and Pandas find themselves a win away from qualification while Astralis, Parivision, and B8 are a loss away from elimination. With all these storylines in play, Day 2 is all set to be an exciting one for CS fans.
