Surprisingly, Day 3 of the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMR featured two of the best teams in Counter-Strike. G2 and Spirit’s loss of two games in the first two days forced them to Day 3, where their qualification loomed on taking down each other.
9Pandas opened the day with their match against Aurora, in which a quick 2-0 saw them level the scoreline on the leaderboards while Aurora bit the dust given this counted as their third loss in the RMR.
Astralis beating Eternal Fire results in a XANTARES less major in Shanghai, arguably the biggest upset in the group so far. Astralis who opened up their RMR with a loss, bested EF in a tough game and this speaks volumes for cadiaN’s side who are making it happen without star AWPer dev1ce.
NiP faced TSM for their survival in the RMR which went by fast given that the Swedes posted a quick 2-0. TSM having lost 3 matches take their exit while NiP will have to fight for their place in Shanghai on the final day of the RMR which will be a tall task given big names await the teams the following day.
Heroic and Virtus Pro, are two top sides who had a difficult start to the tournament but managed to book their spots in Shanghai following their victories against Passion UA and Sashi respectively.
The big event of the day saw two juggernauts in G2 and Spirit go head to head. A tough contest between the sides saw G2 overcome an in-form Team Spirit led by sh1ro and donk to book their spot in the Major, while Team Spirit’s qualification got pushed to the second day.
Day 3 will encompass matches to take the final 3 spots where we will see NiP take on 9Pandas, Astralis take on Passion UA and Team Spirit take on Sashi. Winners of said matches will make it to Shanghai which makes the stakes as high as possible for all the players involved.
