Backed by the home crowd, Rare Atom has secured a historic win over Fnatic. A successful comeback after losing the first map saw them knock out one of the biggest esports organizations as tougher fights await them in their journey to the next stage.

Rare Atom stunned Fnatic in their map pick with a stellar start as Fnatic managed only 4 rounds in the first half. The big difference in the round was cut short after we walked into the second half when Fnatic won the pistol and converted the rounds that followed. Step by step, not only were they able to level the scoreline, but Fnatic managed to pull ahead by the end of the second half and took home their map pick.

A stellar start to Inferno saw Fnatic go 6-0 up before Rare Atom could get on the board. Despite the hot start, Rare Atom managed to level the scoreline by the end of the half which turned the tide of the game going into the second half. Fnatic’s early start was reduced to naught by a rejuvenated Rare Atom side as they mounted a comeback in the latter stage of the game to take us to the third map.
Map 3: Vertigo; Winner: Rare Atom; Score: 13-4
Starting on the CT side, Rare Atom brought their A game from Inferno as Fnatic was unable to breach their defense up until the 6th round and only managed 3 more afterward. Surprisingly, they only managed 4 rounds throughout the game as Rare Atom’s offense was unstoppable in the second half. Fnatic failed to post a single round on their defence as they bowed out of the Major failing to secure a single win against any opponents.
While Fnatic will be airport-bound, Rare Atom has managed to live to fight another day. Winning all the matches that follow is mandatory if they are to see the next stage of the tournament.
