According to reports, G2’s IGL Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen will not be calling the shots at IEM Dallas due to a personal scheduling conflict and will be replaced by Jake “Stewie2K” Yip.
Jake “Stewie2K” Yip has been shortlisted contender if true, he would be playing his first LAN since Evil Geniuses’ failure at the Americas RMR for PGL Major Antwerp. It can be assumed that Nexa will be taking over the IGL duties, while Stew takes over some of his support roles and while it may not be a direct fit, his experience might help the squad on the stage.
In a post on X, the ELEAGUE Major Boston champion also hinted at attending the Dallas event. In-game leader and captain of G2, Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, will not be present at IEM Dallas, as revealed to Dust2.us by Petar “peca” Marković, general manager of the squad. The American outlet also stated that sources claim that Dane’s absence is because of a disagreement with his schedule.
While on paper, Stew’s addition might be a firepower upgrade over Hooxi, taking the IGL out of a roster has often led to the team losing its structure. Nexa, having the experience of leading G2 before, might take on the responsibilities with little effort but things might look bleak as Stew has not competed at the top level in CS in a long time.
