Valve has rolled out a substantial update for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) on October 2, 2024. Dubbed “The Armory,” this update introduces a plethora of new features, including weapon charms, new weapon collections, and notable changes to the competitive map pool.
The Armory update is akin to a new operation, offering players a wealth of cosmetic items through the Armory Pass. This pass allows players to earn credits, which can be spent on a variety of new skins, charms, and stickers. The update includes three new weapon collections: the Overpass 2024 collection, the Graphic collection, and the Sport & Field collection. Each collection brings a unique aesthetic to the game, with the Overpass 2024 collection featuring the AK-47 B The Monster, adorned with iconic graffiti from the map.
Gallery Case In CS2
In addition to the weapon collections, the update introduces the Gallery Case, which contains 17 new skins and a chance to obtain the coveted Kukri Knife. Players can also look forward to two new sticker capsules: the Elemental Craft and Character Craft collections. These additions bring over 100 new items to CS2, ensuring that there’s something for every player to enjoy.
Weapon Charms:
One of the most anticipated features of The Armory update is the introduction of weapon charms. These small, decorative items can be attached to weapons, adding a new layer of personalization to the game. The update includes 33 different charms, divided into two collections: the Missing Link collection and the Small Arms collection. The Missing Link collection features miniature versions of agent skins, while the Small Arms collection offers tiny, colorful weapons⁴.
Weapon charms have been a popular feature in other first-person shooters like Rainbow Six and VALORANT, and their arrival in CS2 marks a significant step forward in weapon cosmetic technology. Players can obtain these charms through the Armory Pass or by purchasing them on the Steam Market.
Competitive Map Pool Shake-Up
The Armory update also brings changes to the competitive map pool, with the addition of Italy. This classic map has been reintroduced to the rotation, providing players with a fresh challenge. Alongside Italy, several maps have received updates and bug fixes to improve gameplay and balance.
Technical Improvements and Bug Fixes
Valve has not only focused on new content but also on enhancing the overall gaming experience. The update includes numerous animation and network fixes, addressing issues that have been plaguing players. Improved character posing on slopes, adjustments to feet pinning, and fixes for aggressively leaned characters are just a few of the changes aimed at refining the game’s mechanics.
A New Trading System
In a bid to curb market manipulation and enhance security, Valve has implemented a new trading system. All items acquired from the in-game store, trade offers, and the Steam Community Market are now subject to a 7-day re-trade and re-market restriction. This change aims to create a more stable and fair trading environment for players.
