What to Expect From Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR

A Deep Dive into the CS2 RMR 2024

RMR has been the gateway to the Major ever since its inception and this year is no different. The Perfect World Shanghai major has implemented several changes across the board but the core idea for qualifying to a Major remains the same as teams fight it out in a Swiss format to find a place in the RMR.

Day 1

  • FURIA v. Legacy – 09:30AM
  • Liquid v. Wildcard – 09:30AM
  • Complexity v. BESTIA – 10:30AM
  • paiN v. Nouns – 10:30AM
  • 9z v. RED Canids – 11:30AM
  • M80 v. BOSS – 11:30AM
  • MIBR v. KRÜ – 12:30PM
  • Imperial v. Case – 12:30PM

The conclusion of the opening day will lead to initial standings which will decide the fate of the teams moving forward.

Liquid comes into the RMR as clear favorites to make it to the major without having much trouble as they have managed to hold a respectable form despite not making deep runs in most tournaments but they are clearly the best team to come out of North America.

Complexity has done well but inconsistencies in their form might come back to haunt them at the Major given the forgiving nature and the level of competition at the North American RMR. They have the talent and the experience but lack that little push for the big games to push through.

Furia, despite significant performances in recent tournaments, has remained under the radar for the better part of the year. IEM Rio was a flash of their true abilities where they bested NAVI who eventually went on to win the tournament, speaks volumes about their preset level.

Liquid, Furia, and CoL are the biggest names competing at the North American RMR, while there are the likes of M80 and MIBR, having 7 slots could be the key for much lesser known to make it to the major from North America.
