CS:GO – BLAST is considering rule to allow substitutes during half-time

The Danish tournament organizers may allow teams to swap players at half-time.

BLAST is a renowned name in the professional CSGO scene and is one of the biggest tournament organizers in CSGO. Recently, they have also announced entering into the Dota 2 scene with a new Bounty Hunt tournament which is set to revolutionize the viewer experience. According to a DBLTAP report, BLAST might be contemplating a rule change that may allow teams to switch players after half-time.

Previously, teams were able to make player substitutions only after a map ended. BLAST Premiere’s current rules allow teams to carry two extra players on top of the usual five-man roster and substitute players between matches; but with the new rule, teams will be able to make those changes even after half-time of a game. Although, interestingly no team had previously used their substitutions between maps even though the rules allowed them to. This new rule might just change that.

This was after Astralis had signed themselves a seven-player roster. Earlier, we had reported the possibility of Astralis signing Patrick ‘es3tag’ Hansen which happened soon afterwards. Recently, Astralis have also signed Jakob “JUGi” Hansen to complete their seven-man roster. The new potential change in the rulebook of BLAST Premiere is certain to be a welcome one for Astralis as it’ll make the extra members in their roster even more relevant.

The changed ruleset can be implemented from BLAST Premier Spring Showdown which is scheduled to start from May 31 and will be split into two divisions for North America and Europe respectively.
