Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, over the years, has developed into a versatile esport title. With rising prize pools and multiple top tier events lined-up simultaneously, the viewer-friendly esport still has a lot of flaws to fix. Fixing the in-game economy, M4A1-S buff, higher prize pool for major, compatibility of custom player models could be some of the issues but the major concern is – the delay in distribution of prize money.
Senior Vice President of Immortals Gaming Club (IGC) that owns MIBR, Tomi “lurppis” Kovanen has yet again raised the issue of postponement of prize money distribution by tournament organisers. “While the industry has gotten a lot better over the past years, prize money payments remain a real issue,” he said on Twitter. “In 2019, average time for prize payout in days from end of an event for MIBR was ~150 days, with many events still unpaid today, and continuing to increase the average.”
He further alleged that the delays do not affect top tier organizations or well-paid players but the ones signed with smaller organizations or unsigned upcoming players.
