CSGO Major Pick’Em Challenge Guide

The Rio Major is just weeks away and Valve has released the Viewers Pass which comes with Capsules, Stickers, and most importantly the Pick ‘Em challenge where everyone will aim for the diamond coin.

Pick ‘Em Challenge is CSGO’s very own fantasy esport built into the game that spawned right ahead of the major, which starts early next month. With Pick ‘Em available starting just the day before, players with the viewer pass can take part and aim for the diamond coin.

If this is your first major as a CSGO player, you might need a helping hand to understand how the system works and what exactly you can expect from it.

In the preliminary round, i.e the group stage, you are given the option of picking teams that will make it out of the groups also you get to pick a team that will go undefeated i.e teams with a 3-0 record and a team that will fail to secure a single win in the group stage, i.e teams with a 0-3 record.

How to get the Dimond coin?

Once the playoffs begin and you have correctly guessed the teams with 3-0 and 0-3 records and 7 teams that advanced to the playoffs. From the teams that have made it to that point, you have to guess the following:

  • Correctly pick two teams to reach the semifinals
  • Correctly pick one team to reach the grand finals
  • Correctly pick the team that wins the grand finals

All these are the requirements for the Dimond coin and the bragging rights it is the ultimate token for fantasy CS:GO.

Teams to pick in the Challengers Stage:

Vitality is likely the team that will go 3-0 in the challengers’ stage considering the hot form that they have coming into the major. While a team from Oceania/Asia would likely fail to secure any win given that they are considered quite up to the EU standard of the game as attested by the HLTV Rankings.

Furia, Mouz, Outsiders, and Cloud 9, OG will be some of the teams who will make it to the playoffs given their recent results and the opponents that they are scheduled to face. However, the RMR showed that the lesser-known teams have a significant chance of causing a major upset, thus making this year’s Pick ‘Ems very interesting.
